Plus I'm basically retired, and I don't need to worry about a working visa and such.Īt this point my spoken Cantonese includes about 50 words + numbers + a handful of swears. I of course learned a handful of Cantonese words as well.įinally, fast-forward few years, right before the covid drama started I came back to Guangzhou where surprise surprise (not really, my spouse although not a Chinese citizen, has a Guangzhou birth certificate), I was bestowed a long-term resident visa, so I don't have to do the three months round-trip to Hong Kong or Macao anymore. Once again fast-forward few years, about five years ago I ended up with a multi-entry tourist visa that allowed me to spend about a year in Guangzhou and every three months or so I ferried myself to Hong Kong and back, which was for some reason considered re-entry, which allowed me to happily rinse and repeat this several times. Hanging out with them I casually learned a handful of Cantonese words.įast-forward few years, about 10 years ago I ended up spending a few months in Guangzhou where I got to learn a few more Cantonese words. I accidentally ended up traveling to the US about 15 years ago where I met, as chance had it, some Chinese peeps with Guangzhou roots. I'm European, from European parents (my native language's an offshoot of Latin). In particular I'm interested in 3-D cartoons such as 'Kung Fu Panda' or 'How to train your dragon', etc. due to reasons, I'm looking for some sort of online service I can access from Guangzhou with or without VPN where I can watch on my home computer blockbuster movies/cartoons dubbed in Cantonese, ideally with English subtitles.
